About the Author

Ajith Fernando (ThM, Fuller Theological Seminary) is the teaching director of Youth for Christ in Sri Lanka after serving as the ministry's national director for thirty-five years. He and his wife, Nelun, are active in a church ministering primarily to the urban poor, and his ministry includes counseling and mentoring younger staff and pastors. He is the author of seventeen books published in twenty languages. Ajith lives in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with his wife, and they have two adult children and four grandchildren.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book and it was decent, but not great. It talks all about how the world (mostly referring to America, but these ideas could be applied to other first world type countries). It has some great Biblical principles in it, but not as much practical "feet meet the pavement" type advice as I'd hoped. It is a great for a new believer who isn't sure where to go from here and for those new to discipling as well. Overall, I thought it had some good stuff in it, but not one that I'm going to be using as a reference for this type of question in the future.

A nice book on the basics of everyday ministry. The author addresses the realities of twenty-first century Christianity - falling numbers, the stress and struggles of ministry, family problems, money problems, and the role of Christians as outsiders or even outcasts in some cultures. The author covers the day to day challenges of discipling new Christians, including the huge amount of time and effort needed by a pastor or "discipler."

Good read on the challenges and some proposed methods of discipleship for people of many different backgrounds and who want to grow in Christ. A very readable title, the author shares his various experiences in different cultures and the unique challenges believers face in those various cultures.Good practical tool and contains many good spiritual insights on discipling in today's world.

In the book Discipling in a Multicultural World, Ajith Fernando explores relationship discipleship and the struggles of discipling in our multicultural world.This was an easy ready with basic information. I would recommend this book for those beginning the discipling journey. I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
